Dementia Friendly Lunch-n-Learn

We recently attended a Dementia friendly Lunch-n-Learn at Johns Creek City Hall. Through our partnership with Dementia Spotlight Foundation, 22 staff members were certified as Dementia Friends! Together we can make a difference.

Black History Month

Let us celebrate together!

Valentine’s Day

Our staff livened up the space with handmade Valentine’s decor.

Random Acts of Kindness Day

February 17 is Random Acts of Kindness Day. Let us remember to be kind today and everyday.

Staff Training and Development

We have been working hard on our staff development and training to create programming that is enriching and fulfilling for our incoming residents.

Loom Art

Our staff has been letting their creative juices flow with Loom art. Loom was built from scrap wood, the yarn is created from plastic bags, t-shirts and sheets. The team learned to cut and put together the Plarn = Plastic Yarn (see pictures), then learned to weave it in whatever pattern they chose on the loom. The residents will learn the same and will be able to create art, as well as Plarn sleeping mats for the homeless if they are interested in this type of outreach program as part of Vineyard Gives. Furthermore, Coleen with Power Back is excited to use the loom as a physical therapy tool.

File of Life

This is an ongoing initiative with the Johns Creek Roundtable and Angel Wings Foundation to secure donations so we can purchase the File of Life for Johns Creek residents and first responders in case of a life threatening emergency.

It is important to have your medical information in an accessible place.

File of Life is a magnetic pouch, kept on your refrigerator for first responders to have access to medical information during an emergency.
