October Activity Calendar

Vineyard Activities

Our unique approach to care, connection and community is rooted in one principle: TO T.H.R.I.V.E. and nowhere is that more evident than in our activity calendar.

We aim to provide activities within each category: thoughtful, healthful, recreational, intellectual, vital and environmental.

Here’s just a sample of what we have planned for our residents in October:

  • 10/7 Chocolate Covered Pretzel Day: Making chocolate covered pretzel sticks
  • 10/11 Columbus Day: Reviewing the story and history behind Columbus Day
  • 10/13 National Fossil Day: Digging for Fossils
  • 10/16 Walk to End Alzheimer’s: Our Vineyard Tribe has a team participating in this walk and fundraiser
  • 10/18 National Chocolate Cupcake Day: Our pastry chef, Jennifer is hosting a baking tutorial
  • 10/22 Oktoberfest: A seasonal event for residents featuring brats, pretzels, music, dancing and more
  • 10/26 National Pumpkin Day: Celebrating everything pumpkin, including pumpkin painting, seeds and tastings
  • 10/31 Happy Halloween! 🎃 We invite families and team members’ children to come trick or treating, with a costume contest, arts and crafts, food and refreshments

This is just a small part of our calendar, we also host daily exercise classes, games, movies and other interactive sessions.

Highlighting our Pastry Chef, Jennifer Powers

Vineyard Henderson Pastry Chef

What do Gerald Ford, Ludacris and Vineyard residents all have in common? They’ve experienced Chef Jennifer Powers’ signature dessert, “The White Chocolate Closer.” The unique name comes from the same secret weapon used to seal a deal— it’s a signature dish that closes out a remarkable dining experience.

This melt-in-your-mouth pastry combines a flaky crust, raspberries, pistachios and a drizzle of white chocolate. Chef Jennifer has spent 29 years perfecting the recipe and has filled high profile bellies such as Gerald Ford and Dick Cheney. She joined the Tribe at Vineyard Henderson as an Assistant Chef, providing exceptional world-class meals to our Memory Care residents. When asked about her “Why” in joining the Tribe, she says “There’s no better feeling than seeing a person enjoy something you’ve created. I get that feeling everyday serving residents at Vineyard.

Like her fellow dining Tribe Members, Jennifer brings her own culinary flair and passion to “Life, Your Way” at Vineyard Henderson. The result? Beautiful, mouth watering pastries that look too good to eat. Well, almost too good to eat…
